Tommy Keane

Tommy Keane was born in Waterford City and while in his early twenties, after playing tin whistle for a couple of years, he met local piper Tommy Kearney who encouraged him to take up the uilleann pipes.

As well as his early tuition from Tommy Kearney, Tommy also attended the Willie Clancy Summer School where he learned further piping skills from pipers including Pat Mitchell and Liam O’Flynn. The recordings of Willie Clancy, Seamus Ennis and Tommy Reck have also influenced his repertoire and style of playing. In the 1980s Tommy spent seven years in London where he played with many of the giants of Irish music including Tommy McCarthy, Bobby Casey and Roger Sherlock. Since 1987 he has lived in Co. Galway where he teaches traditional music. His solo album The Piper’s Apron was released in 1991 and in 1995 a duet album The Wind Among the Reeds with his wife, concertina player Jacqueline McCarthy ::: more »
Marion McCarthy

Marion was born in London to Irish parents who had emigrated to England from the west of Ireland in the early 1950s. Her father Tommy was a piper and concertina player from Kilmihil, Co. Clare, so it was inevitable that she grew up listening to traditional music and played with many legendary players from Ireland who were living in London. Musicians like Máirtín Byrnes, Raymond Roland, Roger Sherlock, Danny Meehan, Paddy Taylor and Bobby Casey were all part of a thriving music scene that she experienced first hand. She also recalls meeting John Kelly and Willie Clancy during frequent visits to Ireland.

With her father Tommy, sisters Jacqueline and Bernadette and brother Tommy Jnr., she performed throughout Ireland and the U.K.—including The Royal Albert Hall, London. She now lives in the west of Ireland where she is involved in playing and teaching traditional music—in particular at the Willie Clancy Summer School in Co. Clare. The music she plays is in the West Clare style that she inherited from her father Tommy who died in 2000. She can be heard on The Family Album, which features the extended McCarthy family in solo, duet and group performances ::: more »

Kevin Crehan

Kevin comes to us from the Co. Wexford, Ireland. He is a member of one of Ireland's most illustrious musical families, a grandson of the late Junior Crehan. Kevin thoroughly imbibed not only the repertoire of his grandfather, including Junior's many wonderful compositions, but also the lovely old-fashioned "Clare style" of playing them. Kevin released his first recording, "An Bhabog sa Bhadog", in 2001 to great critical acclaim. It contains a number of rare traditional tunes, including many composed by Junior Crehan.
