The 2016 Southern California Tionól will take place over the weekend of November 11, 12 & 13, 2016.
Our guests this year will be Eliot Grasso and K Pádraig O'Kane. Helping K.P. at the reedmaking table we're delighted to welcome our own local reed maestro Michael O'Donovan to offer moral support to one and all. Joseph Sampson will be on hand to help with reed making duties.
This years classes and party are back in the home of Gabriel McKeagney.
The concert will be held in the beautiful Spanish Mission town of San Juan Capistrano's Library. You will be familiar with this location from our Tionól last year and also one with Robbie Hannan many moons ago.
Friday will be the usual meet and greet/session. Classes will be held during the day on Saturday followed by the concert that evening. Sunday will be a more relaxed day of learning and piping lore.

K Pádraig O'Kane
K. Pádraig O'Kane is based in Miami, Florida. Aside from being a professor of music at the Miami International University of Art and Design, he has been piping and making reeds for over 15 years. Pádraig O’Kane has studied with master reed makers Benedict Keohler, Peter Hunter, Tom Aebi, Dave Hegarty, and Tim Britton. All of which, have had a great influence on his reed making style. In 2015, he taught a 3-day reed making course at Na Píobairí Uilleann's Pipe Craft workshop. O’Kane’s deep understanding of methodology, coupled with his many years of making reeds, provide an “anyone-can-do-this!” experience.
